Don’t Forget The F Pattern Or The Fold – Web Design

real estate land At our local coffee shop the other day an acquaintance proudly displayed his newly purchased website on his laptop. He was rightly proud of it; the site was a thing of beauty. It’s a shame he can’t hang it on his office wall rather than leave it on the Internet where so few people are likely to see it.

juegos To accommodate this growing demand more soul food recipe websites are updated not only their content but the ways they deliver that content. For example, more sites are incorporating RSS feeds, social networking tools and of course one of the biggest changes video recipes.

The videos include the added advantage of allowing the visitor to not only view the ingredients, but more important watch how the experts prepare them. With the addition of video instruction the learning curve is shortened for mastering the recipes. For new cooks this is especially true or even if you’re simply new to a specific recipe or cooking technique. Watching an expert actually prepare a dish helps you grab the little details one could miss if they depended only on a written recipe alone.

Studies show that web users focus their attention on text-not images-located high and on the extreme left of the web page. Their attention forms the “F pattern” by running their eyes down the left side until they get to the fold. They then scan the horizontal navigation bar if there is one, drop their eyes a bit and scan toward the center of the page, making the lower horizontal line of the “F.” If they don’t find what they are looking for in one of these three places they are off to the next website. They don’t bother to look below the fold. As for flashing banners and videos, they are so sick of them that they actively avoid looking at them.

A friend sitting at the table with me remarked that the site would make a great business card. I agreed but failed to mention that even as a template for a business card it was lacking. The owner’s name and number was nowhere to be found until you had scrolled down to the very bottom–something I fear won’t happen very often with this site. How much had my acquaintance paid for this disaster? Too much! You can be published without charge. You can to republish this article in your website or blog. Please provide links Active.
